DeMarre To The Nets
DeMarre Carroll – along with a future first and second round pick – has been traded to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Justin Hamilton, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Injuries appear to have caught up with the 30 year old Carroll, as he took a bit of a step back last season. Hopefully he can remain healthy and be a productive piece for the Nets next season.
As for the Raptors, this frees them of DeMarre’s contract. It will also allow for Norman Powell to assume a full time starting position. Powell can pretty much be a younger Carroll. He’s a very good defensive player who can knock down the 3 and plays well off the ball. This move should work out well for Toronto.
David Griffin Signing With The Knicks?
Ex Cavs GM, David Griffin has met with the Knicks on multiple occasions and they are apparently progressing towards contract negotiations.
The assumption is that Griffin will be offered the General Manager position while Steve Mills moves to President of Basketball Operations.
It’s pretty safe to say that Griffin is a substantial upgrade over Phil Jackson and the mess he managed to cause. Here’s hoping to a brighter future in New York.
Wizards Match Nets Offer To Porter
As expected, Brooklyn’s 4 year $106 million deal for Otto Porter has been matched by the Wizards.
This wasn’t much of a surprise. Washington wants to keep its young core together. However, the Nets backed them into a corner, forcing them to sign Porter to a really big deal. We’ll have to wait and see if he lives up to it.
